CARDS

8/11/2024

In today's blog, I am researching the history of cards so I can learn how to create my own card. Firstly, I've made a list of cards that already exist in my PowerPoint, secondly, I chose the type of card that I wanted which was a farewell card, (I might change my mind in the future). Then went to Adobe Illustrator and followed a video tutorial to learn how to make different face types. I made four different face types, the first one I created was the one in red because honestly, it was one of my favourites out of the three that I made. I transformed the red one for 20 copies and then I coloured it red at the front and black behind. For the second one, I selected the circle tool to put on the writing and then put it behind the writing. The third one is just basic face type. Finally, for the fourth one I just chose a blocky face type, coloured the outline black and the inside green. I actually enjoyed doing this, it was just a little bit difficult compared to the other projects that I've done through these months like the animation. It's quite hard but I'm also getting the hang of it and learning something new each day. In addition, what I found difficult was the commands that I had to learn and remember at the same time. It kind of felt overwhelming not in the sense that I don't want to do this but in the sense that it's a lot of keep up with it.

Font designs

These are my other fonts and I changed my mind, I want to do a Merry Christmas card because Christmas is coming and that made me change my mind, I've used Adobe Illustrator to make this one. Once again the red one is my favourite one because it looks like a title from a toy store or any store. Mostly a mall. For the red one, I've used a bendy type of effect, I forgot the effect's name, but the font I used is called Bodini. The second one is the fish-shaped title with black writing. I used the fish type, this is my second favourite because it also looks like a title from a shopping mall, but more from a restaurant. The third one is the green one which looks flag-shaped, I wanted to put green just to make it Christmas-themed and I need to remember the name of the font I've used. The fourth one is the red one with a big font, I used an inflation effect on the writing but I need to remember what kind of font I used for this one. I made another black font on that one. Looks simple, and uses the same effect as the big red one, the inflation effect but just a little bit. The sixth one is the one that looks robotic, it looks robotic to me and I liked it.

The history of cards

The history of greeting cards was invented a long time ago, the history of greeting cards was from the early Chinese and Egyptians to Europe and the U.S. The ones who invented the history of greeting cards were the ancient Chinese who exchanged messages of goodwill to celebrate a New Year, and to early Egyptians who used papyrus scrolls to send greetings.
The Europeans begin selling and exchanging handmade greeting cards, including Valentine's Day cards. Nowadays the cards have been evolving into digital cards. People can send through devices such as laptops and phones to each other, However, some people prefer to send cards the old-fashioned way. I prefer to send it old fashioned way too.

Greeting Card Project (GCP)

For my greeting card project, I was given the task of creating my own card for charity and I decided to create a Christmas card. In the past, I've learned how to improve the font design and edit fonts to make it unique and suitable for the theme of the card. I don't really remember when I had to do it however, I do remember it was somewhere in November and we had to do it for one week or so.
